Global Traveler Magazine Announces the Winners of It Annual Business Class "Wines on the Wing" Awards

Global Traveler magazine, the only United States-based magazine written for the frequently traveling business executive, has released the results of its annual Wines on the Wing" survey.

New York (PRWEB) July 7, 2005 -- Global Traveler magazine, the only United States-based magazine written for the frequently traveling business executive, has released the results of its annual Wines on the Wing" survey.

The final tally is based on the expertise of a distinguished group of 34 prominent wine judges and connoisseurs who assembled at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York on March 11, 2005.

Thirty-one of the world's top airline participated in the survey. Each airline submitted two white wines, two red wines and one champagne or sparkling wine. Rules of the survey required that each wine submitted for judging must be listed on the carrier's business-class wine list at the time of the survey.

In order to obtain complete accuracy, particular care was taken to ensure that the samples for the survey were in the same condition they are when served on board business class flights worldwide.

Due to its sensitive nature, wine requires great care not only in selection, but in handling. Peter Nixon, Qantas Airways' beverage manager, said, Airlines spend an inordinate amount of time getting the wine selection right, but they sometimes forget that wine is a fragile commodity."

For the frequent traveler, even the slightest distinctions can determine an airline's superiority. Global Traveler magazine's Wines on the Wing" survey assists travelers in their pursuit of excellence.

Distributed nationally, Global Traveler has an ABC paid circulation of 60,232. Editorial focuses on issues and concerns of interest to business and luxury travelers. Regular features include in-depth reports on domestic and international destinations and common-sense advice on navigating the ever-complicated world of domestic and international travel, including tips on maximizing hotel and airline reward travel and staying healthy while traveling. Columns highlight the best in fashion, food, wine, design and technology.
