CHALEX Corp. Announces the Release of CHALEX Workflow Framework Version 1.0 with Integrated Digital Asset Management and Workflow Compliance Service
CHALEX Corp. releases version 1.0 of the the CHALEX Workflow Framwork. The Java based software includes the open source Flex-Db digital asset management system integrated with a full featured workflow management and compliance auditing service.
(PRWEB) July 8, 2005 -- CHALEX Corp. announces the release of version 1.0 of the CHALEX Workflow Framework, a cross platform J2EE solution managing workflow models, tracking and automating tasks, managing digital assets and recording job related comments. The Framework includes the Workflow Task Manager, Workflow Security Manager, Workflow Administrative Client, Workflow Process Modeler, and a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system. Customers with existing DAM systems may integrate their current DAM with the Workflow Framework using the included DAM adapter layer.
The CHALEX Workflow Framework can be deployed within an in-house IT system environment or can be supplied by an online application service provider (ASP). The framework supports any workflow process definition you can describe in XPDL (eXtensible Process Definition Language), an XML protocol standard developed by the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC: http://www.wfmc.org).
Workflow models can include an unlimited number of sub-flows. Integration with the DAM system supports import, export, check-in, checkout, and automated metadata indexing of digital assets. Comments can be attached to digital assets, workflow processes and tasks. Task completions and comments are stored in the database along with all of the task details. Workflows may be organized by projects and subprojects and the asset Lifecycle management features may be uniquely configured for each workflow project to provide collective views of all project related assets in accordance with their status in the workflow. Built in reports monitor process events, including task completions and active or late tasks, making the framework an ideal solution for lowering the cost of process compliance and auditing.
Currently the supplied DAM system, FLEX-db, requires an Oracle database. CHALEX Corp., as administrators of the FLEX-db open source project (http://www.Sourceforge.net), have announced that they will deliver a database agnostic version of FLEX-db by late summer. Once this work is completed, CHALEX will offer the entire framework as a turnkey appliance on Windows, Apple OS X, and Linux platforms.
CHALEX currently offers the Workflow Framework as a turnkey service that includes remote software installation and one year of software maintenance. The software itself is royalty free to end-users.
