Visionary Offers DSL on RT Communications Lines in Wyoming
Visionary Communications announced an agreement with RT Communications to offer DSL via RT phone lines. The DSL will aggregate to Visionary's network, allowing the company to support all aspects of the DSL connection.
(PRWEB) July 10, 2005 -- Visionary Communications announced an agreement with RT Communications of Worland to offer DSL broadband in RT's service areas in Wyoming. Initially, Visionary will provide DSL in the communities of Devil's Tower, Hulett, Moorcroft, Newcastle, Osage, Pine Haven, Thermopolis, Upton, and Worland. The company plans to expand the coverage area within RT territory as demand for high speed internet access increases.
The agreement allows Visionary to terminate DSL traffic on its private network, referred to as DSL aggregation. Aggregation provides Visionary with the ability to better support each DSL connection, and to control the quality of the DSL connection to the internet. The company can also better support business VPNs and firewalls as a result of aggregation.
"We've ventured into RT's coverage area with wireless broadband, but to offer their DSL to our customers is something we've really looked forward to," says Brian Worthen, President and CEO of Visionary. "DSL broadband is the most flexible broadband out there, and the new coverage this agreement provides is exciting."
Visionary is offering the DSL as line-share product, riding an existing RT phone line, or as a standalone product, brought into the customer premises on its own line, dedicated for the DSL. According to the company, standalone DSL is increasing in popularity among residential users who wish to use a cell phone as their primary line.
The expanded DSL coverage augments Visionary's wireless broadband coverage in Newcastle and Upton, and initiates a presence in Thermopolis and Worland. Visionary currently provides dialup service in many of the DSL-covered communities.
RT Communications is an Independent Local Exchange Carrier that operates 16 telephone exchanges throughout Wyoming.
