OpenAir and Global Bay Announce New Phase of Strategic Alliance to Support the European Launch of HazardPoint

HazardPoint software provides real-time emergency chemical, radiation and biological monitoring.

(PRWEB) July 14, 2005 -- OpenAir, the UK based specialist provider of mobile voice and data solutions, today announced the next phase of its strategic partnership with Global Bay Mobile Technologies, a mobile software development company , based in New Jersey, the United States. The alliance has been strengthened to support the European roll-out of the HazardPoint environmental emergency monitoring system.

HazardPoint is a powerful mobile tool that assists in the detection of chemical, biological and radiological incidents. The handheld device is able to wirelessly stream both GPS and detection data to multiple locations in real time. This allows the suitably equipped operator to rapidly cover a large area whilst the potential risk is assessed safely away from the incident site. The increased speed in threat analysis allows for either the rapid deployment of containment measures, or the swift resumption of normal service.

The combination of real time data and GPS positioning allows the system to easily integrate into sophisticated prediction models of plume behaviour. The system is designed to be as flexible as possible and is compatible with a large number of different manufacturers' detection equipment, thereby protecting a customer's investment in the solution.

OpenAir's Managing Director, Anthony Lloyd-Weston commented. "HazardPoint was developed and deployed in the US in response to the heightened security concerns over potential terrorist threats. As the recent bomb attacks in London and Madrid have clearly shown, these threats are just as great in Europe. HazardPoint will help first responders minimise the potential risk and chaos caused when faced with chemical, biological or radiological incidents".

Sandeep Banhote, Chief Executive Officer for Global Bay stated that, "HazardPoint was developed in response to potential terrorist threats, and has been well received by a number of security services in the United States. HazardPoint is being extensively used in New York, to assist in real-time monitoring of serious chemical, biological or radiological incidents, or reduce the period of disruption often created by potential threats."
