Scott McCurry Band Launches Inaugural East Coast Tour
Up-and-coming alternative rock band promoting album, building fan base in several East Coast states
(PRWEB) July 14, 2005 -- Based on demand from their growing fan base, the Scott McCurry Band (www.scottmccurry.com), a Texas-based alternative rock group, will be performing several live shows in North and South Carolina in late July, including:

Scott McCurry, the bands founder and lead singer/song-writer, was recently selected as one of Americas Best Independent Artists" (ABIA) by PCTMusic, a group that promotes promising independent artists. As part of the ABIA collection, the Scott McCurry Band has enjoyed mass distribution of its album like the sun" in 1,400 Target stores nationwide. Sams Club stores will begin carrying it in August. Many new fans discovered the band via the Target distribution and have requested live shows in their area, most notably in the Carolinas.
The band currently tours all over Texas, playing sold-out shows in locations such as Austin (on world-famous 6th Street), College Station, Corpus Christi, Dallas/Fort Worth, Lubbock and San Angelo. They performed at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, where two of their songs were in a documentary entitled Walking for Freedom." Scott is a prolific song writer and has composed over 150 original songs to date. The bands musical depth and dynamic chemistry create a unique and compelling sound. Together they put on a spirited live show that their fans describe as upbeat, inspiring and fun!
Their style is reminiscent of music from the 60s, infused with a fresh and modern hue. Band members cite the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Buddy Holly, as well as Elliott Smith, Granddaddy and Wilco as strong influences.
Grass-roots promotion and word-of-mouth marketing have given the band a good deal of visibility. The band sells promotional items such as T-shirts, cds, signed posters, stickers, etc. at each show and their fan base is growing rapidly. Volunteer dedicated street teams are already promoting the band in each city of the planned tour by handing out flyers, putting up posters and sending out e-blasts. As one street team member put it, Every 13 seconds a Scott McCurry fan is born."
