A new law has been passed in France, and is due to be in, Spain, that pool safety measures must be increased. Many people worry that the look of their pools may ruin by fencing off, or using pool covers or netting when the pool is not in use. Installing a simple pool alarm could be the answer.

Responsible pool owners know that child supervision is necessary, even mandatory, but is simply not enough.

The Poolguard POOL ALARM, once installed in the pool, cannot be de-activated; it is always in the alarm ready mode.

Tamper Proof: The Poolguard alarm will sound if someone tries to remove it from the pool.

Sleep mode: when you would like to use your pool, simply remove the alarm from the pool and put it into sleep mode.

Automatic Wake-up: The Poolguard Pool Alarm will automatically wake up and run a system test when installed into the pool.

Audible low battery indicator at the poolside alarm is also indicated by the in house remote receiver.

New sensing technology provides less chance of false alarms due to wind, rain or small objects such as sticks or toys entering the water.

The Poolguard Pool Alarm can be used with a solar blanket.

The law clearly states:

Open-air pools, buried or partially buried, for private individual or collective use, built from Jan 1st 2004, must be fitted with a standardized safety device.

Pools built before this date must comply by Jan 1st 2006. However seasonal letting properties must comply by May 1st 2004 (amended from the original deadline of Jan 1st 2004).

Failure to comply is punishable by a €45,000 fine. "Collectively used pools" are not open to the public but only to customers and owners, such as those in the grounds of hotels, restaurants, campsites, seasonally let properties and pools shared by several owners.

Legally, you may use any one standardized device. However the CSC (French consumer safety commission) prefers barriers and their combination with other safety measures.

NO DEVICE CAN REPLACE ADULT SUPERVISION. NEVER LEAVE A CHILD UNSUPERVISED.
