iHateSpam for Exchange Version 1.7 delivers the only Â?dual-engineÂ? tool for Microsoft Exchange environments

Sunbelt Software, a leading provider of Windows security solutions, today announced the release of a significant upgrade to iHateSpam for Exchange. The new version 1.7 delivers the industry’s only system with dual spam detection engines, allowing administrators to specify the Sunbelt antispam engine, Cloudmark’s antispam engine, or both. The new version is available immediately for the server version of iHateSpam; customers using the Gateway edition of iHateSpam will have the opportunity to upgrade before months-end.

Version 1.7 uses the original iHateSpam for Exchange heuristic engine and the latest Cloudmark signature engine. With the integration of dual spam detection engines, iHateSpam for Exchange now delivers even greater spam detection with current tests reporting almost 100% spam detection with low false positives when both engines are used.

"This new version is a genuinely powerful solution providing multiple technology methods to fight spam in a single solution,” said Alex Eckelberry, president of Sunbelt Software. “We are excited to offer a dual-engine approach that provides our customers with a choice in how to best protect their users from spam.”

Later this year, Sunbelt will ship its new messaging security platform, Sunbelt Messaging Ninja, which will provide antivirus and attachment filtering in addition to antispam functionality.

Pricing, Availability & Requirements

Minimum system requirements are a Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server with Exchange 2000 or 2003, running on a Pentium II system with 256MBs RAM and 20MB free drive space.

The upgrade to version 1.7 is free to all existing customers of iHateSpam for Exchange who are under a maintenance plan. New customers can purchase iHateSpam for Exchange on a per-mailbox basis. Pricing includes first year maintenance and starts at $495 for a 25-mailbox pack, with sliding scale pricing down to $4 per mailbox.
