Set to premiere at the Philly Fringe & Live Arts Festival on Labor Day weekend, museum goers will have a chance to preview the new dance work, "Elements" by Music & Motion. Fourteen female dancers, ages 14 to 18, have collaborated in an artistic vision joining together the roots of our planet, of our spirits and each other. Humorous and abstract pieces offer a kaleidoscope of movement inspired by the four elements of antiquity - earth, water, air and fire.
On Wednesday, July 27th at 7:00 PM, Music & Motion Dance will be performing "Elements" on the North Terrace at the newly renovated Delaware Art Museum, 2301 Kentmere Parkway Wilmington, Delaware. In the event of inclement weather the performance will be rescheduled for August 10th at 7:00 PM. This event, part of the museum's Art After Hours porgam, is FREE after paying general Museum admission or with Museum membership. [Adults: $10, Senior Citizens: $8, College Students: (with valid I.D.) $5.00, Youth $3 , Children 6 and under free] No reservations are required, but seating is limited. Museum galleries will be open until 8 pm.
Music & Motion Dance Productions is a non-profit corporation, which is both owned and operated by teens with mentoring from outside corporations and individuals. It is a group of pre-professional dancers ages fourteen thru eighteen, who have expressed an interest in pursuing dance and the performing arts. Under the artistic direction of Steven Weisz, this groupÂs mission has been to empower young people through dance and creative collaboration in the performing arts, building self-esteem and inspiring self-expression and community action.
To that end, Music & Motion performs locally and in surrounding communities throughout the year, as well as performances in a fully professional atmosphere presented for corporations, museums, gardens, and live arts related venues. Music & Motion fulfills the need for providing young dancers with performing experience in a nurturing environment, while continually exciting audiences wherever they perform. The collaborative efforts of the entire company create a synergy rich in imagination, celebration and spirit.
