Upstage Magazine Releases Its First Compilation CD of Jersey artists

The free monthly guide to the arts for Central New Jersey releases a benefit disc featuring twenty up-and-coming bands from New Jersey.

(PRWEB) July 21, 2005 -- Upstage Magazine, a monthly guide to the arts for Central New Jersey, has just released its first compilation CD of New Jersey artists. The CD is called "Come Back To The Jersey Shore Vol. 1." It features 20 upcoming artists from around the state -- many of whom have been featured in the magazine's first year and a half.

"The songs on this CD are like classic rock hits to us at Upstage Magazine," said Gary Wien, publisher of Upstage Magazine. "These are songs that we've heard hundreds of times in clubs like the Saint, Stone Pony, Wonder Bar, and Harry's Roadhouse. They are songs that we felt were simply too good to just fade away when the next CD was released, so we decided to give them another home."

Artists on the CD include upcoming bands like Days Awake, Maybe Pete, StereoSoul, Chris Batten & the Woods, Souls' Release, Casual Gypsies, The Commons, Soul Engines, The Ayes, Juice (featuring Terry Little), and Green Machine. Solo artists include JPAT, Chrisie Santoni, Ken Shane, Rick Barry, Mimi Cross, Bobby Strange, Lanky, Bruce Tunkel, and Bob Burger.

All 20 artists donated tracks to this record to help support Upstage Magazine. Proceeds from the sale of the disc will go towards the cost of publishing the magazine each month. In addition, portions of the proceeds will also help Jersey Jams Fund and other charities.

"Since day one, we've had tremendous support from the local musicians," added Wien. "This is not just a benefit CD, this is a disc filled with songs that truly deserve to be heard. It's a record that has each song telling a part in a story. We didn't want to just throw songs on to a disc; we wanted to create something unique -- something that was meant to be listened all the way through. We wanted to create a piece of art ourselves.

"New Jersey has always been home to some of the best artists in the world and that hasn't changed. So pop this disc into your player, sit back, and come back to the Jersey Shore. The home of great music!"

"Come Back To The Jersey Shore Vol. 1" will be sold at record stores and club venues throughout New Jersey and online. It is already available at Olive Pit Cds in Bradley Beach, Indigo Coffeehouse in Aberdeen, and Espresso Joes in Keyport. The CD is also available online at http://www.upstagemagazine.com or http://www.CDBABY.COM.
