Creative Ways' first Name-This-Company Contest offers a $100 prize and the chance to become a professional namer to entrants who supply catchy, evocative names for a new web design and search engine optimization company.

WebDreams? SeoStudio? DigiDoor? These company names happen to be taken, but still might turn up on brainstorming lists set in motion by Creative Ways' first Name-This-Company Contest (http://www.yudkin.com/namecontest.htm). A $100 prize and the chance to become a professional namer await entrants who supply catchy, evocative names for a new web design and search engine optimization company.

“The contest celebrates creativity in service to a purpose – customer appeal,” says Marcia Yudkin, author of 6 Steps to Free Publicity and 10 other books hailed for their inventive zest. Yudkin sponsored the contest after being emailed one too many times by someone who got stuck thinking up a company or product name yet couldn't afford the services of a professional naming company.

“Clever headline writers for newspapers, artists who think in word-pictures, professors and graduate students in classic and modern languages – there are tons of capable namers out there, and I need a few more of them for my new naming company, to be launched in a few weeks,” says Yudkin. “Someone who submits great company names might find themselves soon working for me under contract as a freelance namer.”

The winner of the company name contest will be announced September 5, 2005. After the expiration of this contest, the same URL will feature a tag line contest, then a product naming contest after that through at least the end of 2005.
