Houston, TX (PRWEB) July 22, 2005 -- Charles Lyons, Ph.D., author, counselor and speaker, in response to the Presidents nomination of Judge John Roberts to the Supreme Court was quick to point out that this is a pivotal moment for the court. The court has for several decades been in the business of attempting to legislate national policy and conscience while virtually ignoring their responsibility to the judicial character of the court set forth in the constitution.

It is true that the court has been meeting and issuing judgments. The problem has stemmed from the recent history of the court making decisions based on what they perceived were the personal beliefs of the founding fathers. In truth this was more often the personal ambitions of a handful of liberal members of the court according to Dr. Lyons.

Judge Roberts can certainly be described as brilliant. He graduated from the Harvard College in 1976 summa cum laude and did so in only three years. He went on to graduate from Harvard Law School at the top of his class. He was nominated to the Court of Appeals in 2001. His life is described as one that is centered on his family and the values he practices are those values that this country has its roots in, according to Dr. Lyons.

We have experienced several decades of a court using the law. We are now at a point where we have to begin restoring the character, value and judicial restraint in the court. Nominations of people of character are the best way to do this." Dr. Lyons went on to add that he was shocked that some have indicated that the Presidents nomination of a non-minority was daring. We chose to select people of various economic, social and ethnic backgrounds not because of those facts but because we want diversity of representation, not diversity of truth, character or values. America needs people regardless of their ethnic position. People of character, even those who are not minorities have something to offer the country."

Although we have a man of character, education and experience as a nominee, it will not be surprising to find considerable challenge to his nomination in the Senate. Sadly, according Dr. Lyons, this stems from a significant number of people holding public office that simply do not hold to the values this nation was founded on. Experience has demonstrated that these individuals appear to choose a course of disruption and delay rather than yielding to the will of a nation of people they are supposed to represent.

Dr. Lyons is the author of two books, Daniel a Commentary of Prophecy," and Losing Your Head Without Losing Your Mind!" The second book chronicles the life of John the Baptist, a historical Bible character who stood up boldly when wrong was portrayed as right.
