GlobalPhone serves its global customers via servers in its Virginia data center and numerous Cisco AS5300s around the world. Their previous management software gave the company only the ability to "ping" gateways and servers to see if they were running or not. We were using a mish mash of systems – WhatsUp® Gold, APC® PowerShoot and VoIP Watchdog™ -- to manage the network, but it just wasnt a satisfactory solution," said Stephen McCarthy, GlobalPhone founder and president. "We had looked at HP OpenView network management software to replace our existing systems, but we never seriously considered moving forward with it because of the cost and the difficulty of installation."
