DALLAS, TX (PRWEB) July 24, 2005 -- Terrorism Safety Alliance announces new campaign to emphasize the need for citizen readiness. A recent telephone survey conducted by the Terrorism Safety Alliance indicates an alarming trend of complacency among American families. Only 26% of people polled said they have taken at least some measures to prepare for a terrorist attack, by maintaining extra food, water, plastic sheeting and duct tape.

Most Americans have been lulled into a false sense of security by the relatively quiet home front since 9/11", said Mr. Harris, Assistant Director of the Terrorism Safety Alliance. This is exactly what terrorists want; we are playing right into their hands. They are very patient and cunning and are masters at exploiting our weaknesses"

The Terrorism Safety Alliance is a non-profit, non-partisan organization whose primary purpose is to save lives by informing and educating the public to the realistic threats that we all face in a post 9/11 America.

What makes us different is that instead of just telling people they need to prepare, we try to explain why they need to prepare. We explain the 'terrorist mentality from a unique perspective and point out weaknesses in our National Security. When people are informed and educated they realize for themselves the importance of advance planning", Mr. Harris went on to say.

Unprepared citizens will only complicate matters at a critical time and hinder the effectiveness of the emergency response teams by spreading panic and adding even more chaos to an already chaotic time.

Denial, ill-preparedness and complacency are among the terrorists greatest weapons. Remove these three elements from their arsenal and we have severely diminished their capacity to do us harm. As citizens we can do very little to close our borders, protect our ports and skies or confront terrorists on their own soil, that is up to our leaders. But what we can do is be prepared for anything.

We are encouraging all Americans to do their part by becoming involved and getting informed, by talking to their friends, families and neighbors, by organizing neighborhood readiness campaigns and by simply 'being ready.
