Reed's 'Unholy Alliance' Satisfies Fans of Forensic Murder Mysteries With Micah Travis as Dahmer's Double

'Unholy Alliance' by Dana Reed intimately explores society's strange fascination with serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer, through character Micah Travis.

(PRWEB) July 24, 2005 -- "Unholy Alliance" by Dana Reed intimately explores society's strange fascination with serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer, through character Micah Travis.

For not only was Dahmer's modus operandi nightmarish in scope, Dahmer practiced necrophilia, and held an erotic affection for corpses. In court it became evident that he refused to part with his victims because in his mind they had risen to the status of loving family.

Unlike necromancers who claim to have contact with the dead through séances, Dahmer suffered the illusion that his victims were capable of communication even after the last breath had left their bodies. He filled many lonely hours exchanging words of affection with corpses and body parts.

Micah Travis doubles for Dahmer in Unholy Alliance, playing a game of pretend serial killer whos really driven by revenge. However, his collecting of bodies and body parts demonstrates the mania brought on by an unorthodox upbringing. After death, many of his victims share his apartment, kept at a cold thirty-two degrees to prevent rapid decomposition.

Junior journalist August Summers is handed a peachy assignment: tailing Detective Roberta (Bobby) Beckett for an article on women in the news. However, August is dealing with demons from her past as well as her present when Micah Travis focuses on her as a prime victim. Micah sees August as the wife he never had. However, to fulfill his fantasy in the practice of necrophilia, August must die before the marriage is performed.

Detective Bobby Beckett is annoyed at having a journalist accompany her on a daily basis. Especially since shes engaged in a game of cat and mouse with serial killer Micah Travis and catching him isnt easy. Micah is so adept at disguises his true identity remains hidden until the last chapter. Although disgusted by Augusts surveillance, Bobby soon adopts a close relationship when Micah Travis attraction to August becomes evident.

After nine horror novels were published, Dana Reed switched to romantic thrillers and had two published. Not satisfied, she tried her hand at mysteries and had two published as part of a continuing series. Since mystery novels became more sophisticated with the many forensic and detective shows on TV, Reeds cop son helped with police procedure. Plus, the purchase of a slew of forensic texts were primary tools in her research for the performance of autopsies, working on trace evidence, weapons and ammo and so on. In the past, she worked as an investigative reporter for several years and wrote hundreds of articles and had her own column. Reed taught Creative Writing and Journalism in Adult Ed classes in high schools, libraries and on AOL. Born in Peekskill, New York, she now resides in Vermont. Later this year she's expecting the release of her tenth horror novel, part of a trilogy entitled 'Grave Results.'
