WebAssist today announced the free availability of PlayStream VideoLaunch, an extension for Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Macromedia Contribute 3 users. Developed in partnership with VitalStream, PlayStream VideoLaunch provides an easy way for Web designers to add streaming Flash Video to any site.

WebAssist today released PlayStream VideoLaunch, an easy-to-use tool for inserting streaming Flash Video into any Web page. Created in partnership with VitalStream, PlayStream VideoLaunch allows both Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Macromedia Contribute 3 users a simple way to incorporate instant-on, completely interactive Flash Video. When paired with PlayStream’s video service, VideoLaunch provides a direct path to streaming video. VideoLaunch is available at no charge from the WebAssist site.

PlayStream VideoLaunch puts a streaming Flash Video movie on any Web page in three easy steps. After the user signs into the PlayStream account, a list of available video files is presented to choose from. Unlike other video plug-ins, PlayStream VideoLaunch automatically presents all the currently available options and eliminates the need for memorizing or copying long, complicated file paths. The user can also choose from a range of video player sizes and designs or skins. PlayStream VideoLaunch offers a variety of custom skins; the list of options is automatically updated as new skins become available. An instant preview is available so the designer can choose the most appropriate player for their content.

Streaming Flash content offers professional grade features beyond that of standard progressive video, including the fastest start time and full interactivity. VitalStream, the leader in streaming Flash Video content, offers users a low-cost solution to video hosting with plans starting at just $10 per month through the PlayStream service. Included in each plan is dial-in technical support, available Monday through Friday.

"Today, leading web sites such as CNET.com use the Flash Platform to deliver innovative and interactive experiences with streaming video." said Tom Hale, senior vice president and general manager, Macromedia. "WebAssist and VitalStream are helping Macromedia put Internet video within the reach of Contribute and Dreamweaver users."

Hieu Bui, Vice President of Business Development at WebAssist, agrees and adds, “Video on the Web is growing at an astounding rate, thanks largely to the enhanced capabilities of the Flash Player. Now, with PlayStream VideoLaunch, designers of all kinds can bring the highest professional grade video to their site simply and easily.”

PlayStream VideoLaunch is available directly from WebAssist at no charge. Designers can sign up for the PlayStream video service at http://playstream.com/webassist.
