HOT 97, Power 105.1, WPGG-FM and WZMX-FM Add Into Rotation T.O.K.'s New Single "Footprints"

(PRWEB) July 26, 2005 -- With the continued success of dancehall and its influence on pop music worldwide, the next superstars to rise from Jamaicas endless pool of talent - Alex, Flexx, Bay-C and Craig T. - also known as T.O.K. combine sweet melodic crooning, R&B harmonies, and reggae dancehall into a sound that has all the ingredients to reach a global fan base. Their current radio hit, "Footprints," from their new album, Unknown Language, held the #1 position on Jamaicas airwaves for three months in a row and has been added into rotation by several powerhouse radio stations in the U.S. including HOT 97 (WQHT-FM), Power 105.1 (WWPR-FM), and WBLS-FM (107.5) in New York. Outside of the NY tri-state area, "Footprints," has been added to WPGC-FM (Washington, DC) and WZMX-FM (Hartford, CT), WJBT-FM (Jacksonville, FL), WWKX-FM (Providence, RI), and WOWI-FM (Norfolk, VA) among others.

No stranger to the spotlight, T.O.K. first tasted stateside success via their 2001 debut album My Crew, My Dawgs, which showed the world what reggae musics number #1 dancehall group have to offer. "Gal You Lead," the first single from Unknown Language, produced by Bobby Konders was listed in Blender Magazines "Top Songs of 2004" and the video for the song was selected for "New Faces Of MTV2,"and debuted on MTVs "Direct Effect." The song was also nominated for the 2004 Vibe Awards in the Boomshot Award category. The group first national appearance was on MTVs "Advance Warning"- a prestigious nod to up-and-comers. They also appeared on the very first season of BETs "106 & Park," well before any dancehall artist graced that stage. The next single from Unknown Language, "Hey Ladies (In The Air)," is already a dancehall hit in Jamaica; meanwhile the reggaetòn-infused "Shes Hotter," featuring Miami-based Cuban rapper, Pitbull, is taking Latin clubs by storm. The video for "Shes Hotter," was filmed with Pitbull in Cuba.

With the popularity of dancehall reggae steadily growing, T.O.K. knows that they have the watchful eyes of their faithful fans back home and newfound converts squared directly on them. A socially and politically conscious group, T.O.K. uses their influence to send out a strong message against violence in "Footprints." The song has a personal meaning for T.O.K. who suffered its own loss when Alexs brother was killed by a stray bullet. "We wrote this song to speak out against violence in all forms and to send a message to families who have suffered a loss, that they are not suffering alone," explains Bay-C.

"T.O.K. has definitely matured over the years and our music and its subject matter reflects that." Our new album, Unknown Language, is about evolution, using our music and influence to uplift and unite." As part of its mission, T.O.K. aligned themselves with Jamaica AIDS Support and RETV, touring a different high school every Wednesday during the month of May and June to promote AIDS awareness and prevention. Known for their hi-energy shows, T.O.K. headlined "The Freedom Project," a benefit concert in St. Croix whose proceeds go towards are awarded underprivileged academic achievers from the island to travel abroad to further their education.
