(PRWEB) July 28, 2005 -- Highland Green Adult Resort Community and Golf Club was recently named among Americas Best Master-Planned Communities by Where to Retire magazine. The selection was announced after a nine-month evaluation of several hundred communities across the nation, according to the publication. Highland Greens wooded environment, nature preserve, golf course, maintenance-free living and proximity to Brunswick and Portland are all features cited in the July 2005 announcement.

Where to Retire editor and publisher Alan Fox said, "You're not just buying a home in these communities, you are buying a lifestyle. These master-planned developments are secure, well-maintained and offer amenities like clubhouses, fitness centers and social clubs. There area great options in all types of settings: lakeside, mountain, coastal or desert."

Highland Green is a 650-acre adult resort community and golf club located in Topsham Maine. Catering to baby-boomers and those with an active lifestyle, the Highland Green campus includes a 230-acre nature preserve featuring miles of hiking trails that wind through sections of old-growth forest, around a 30-acre bird sanctuary and alongside the Cathance River. The amenities at Highland Green also include a Scottish-style golf course and pub. The community building will feature a library and meeting space, swimming pool, tennis courts and fitness center.

"Highland Green's recognition as one of America's Top 100 Master-Planned communities speaks volumes about the community and our way of life in Midcoast Maine," said Catherine Glover, President of the Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber. "The award is well-deserved and the publicity not only benefits Highland Green, but our entire region."
