Proving again that the Internet and television can be used for the really perverse, or it can be used for good, psychologist and bestselling relationship doctor Kevin Leman has developed a wholesome online dating service just for Christians called MatchWise.com.

The theatrical release today of “Must Love Dogs” is a fictional look at online dating, but it is no fiction that online dating has become a way of life for over 40 million singles in the U.S. This movie comes on the heels of ABC’s July 14 debut of the provocative TV series, “Hooking Up,” similar shows about online dating are said to be in the works by the other networks and cable suppliers. Most focus on how far a date will go on a first outing, not on whether or not the relationship will be fulfilling and lasting for each of the parties.

Proving again that the Internet and television can be used for the really perverse, or it can be used for good, psychologist and bestselling relationship doctor Kevin Leman has developed a wholesome online dating service just for Christians called MatchWise.com.

Should there ever be a movie about MatchWise.com the title would more likely be “Must Love God (but not necessarily dogs).” It is the antithesis of the focus of dating sites now popularized in movies and television. It focuses its members on finding a lifelong mate, and for all the right reasons, not just a date or a fling. It holds its members to a higher standard, requiring that all profess Christian faith and it allows no inappropriate or sexual content. All profiles and photos, for instance, are reviewed before they are allowed on the site and any inappropriate behavior by any member will cause that member to be removed and blocked from further use.

According to Dr. Leman, “We saw the direction that most of these sites were going, even those that say they are ‘Christian,’ and we sought to develop a higher standard so that any Christian of any age would feel comfortable participating in our community and pleased with the singles that they find there. In fact, according to our established standards we turn away about 10% of those who try to join, referring them instead to other popular dating services.”

More importantly, says Leman, “We provide all of our members with the tools to find the right mate, based on their own personality and the personality of any potential match. These tools start with the 16-page Personality Test that I developed exclusively for this service, which is free to anyone who registers. It then continues with my ongoing training and encouragement and the instantaneous way that our system allows members to understand underlying factors behind any other member’s personality at a glance.”

Dr. Leman invites all single Christians to come check out MatchWise.com, which is adding thousands of members of all ages and races to its online community every month. If you love God, are single age 18 or older, and you are an American, registration for MatchWise is free at http://www.matchwise.com.
