Nadia Brown was born in Queens, New York, and has lived all her life in Miami with her immediate family. The poems in this book were written over a five year period and reflects either the author's own experiences, those close to her, and/or issues that she feels very passionately about.

The author explains that she has always had the utmost respect and admiration for anyone who is able to accomplish something that they truly desired no matter how significant or small it is.
