Despite Controversial Decision, The Kings College Receives Accreditation

In spite of a decision in March that limited The Kings College accreditation to one year and required it to undergo an additional review, the New York State Board of Regents voted to extend the colleges accreditation for five years on July 21.

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 31, 2005 -- On July 21 the State of New York Board of Regents voted to extend accreditation to The King's College for five-years. This vote came after the unanimous recommendation by the Regents Advisory Council.

The King's College has been fighting for its survival since March when the Board of Regents extended The King's College accreditation for one year, instead of the expected five-years. This unanticipated decision went against the recommendation of the Regents Advisory Board based on a thorough, multi-step review of the college.

We were confident that The Kings Colleges academic rigor, quality faculty and talented students would be vindicated through this process," said, Stan Oakes, President of The Kings College. I am filled with thankfulness to God for being faithful and gracious to the college."

In December 2004, The King's College underwent the mandatory renewal process to receive accreditation through the State of New York Board of Regents. With this evaluation complete and the recommendation from the Regents Advisory Board, The King's College expected the Board of Regents to grant the college a five-year renewal of its accreditation. However, when the Regents began to vote, questions where raised and five-years became one-year.

Following the Regents vote in March, another site visit was conducted by the New York State Department of Education on May 25. As a result of the visit, the Regents Advisory Council again voted unanimously to recommend The King's College for five-years to the Board of Regents; thus leading to the five-year extension of the colleges accreditation.
