Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) July 31, 2005 -- The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Greater Cleveland will host a unique, interactive program titled "The Disaster Experience" on Thursday, October 27th from 8 a.m. to noon at One Cleveland Center, 1375 East Ninth Street, Cleveland.
Over 150 local property owners and managers will collaborate in making critical response decisions as they are led through a simulated real-life crisis. BOMA Greater Cleveland has hired Attanium Corp. of Washington, DC to facilitate the four hour program that will help building owners and managers understand the importance of advanced emergency and contingency planning and will put their current skills to the test.
From large scale disasters such as the Sept. 11 attacks and the East Coast power outage of 2003, to more localized emergencies such as fire and flood, BOMA Greater Cleveland seized the opportunity to assist local building owners and managers in developing and rehearsing disaster plans to protect the real estate community's assets, and more importantly its occupants.
Janice Parham, Executive Vice President adds, "BOMA was very active in the development of the City
Evacuation Plan after Sept. 11th. It's important that the Commercial Real Estate Community continue to be proactive when it comes to the Safety of their tenants. This "Disaster Experience" Program reflects the next steps in developing- and exercising a comprehensive response to potential disasters."
Disaster recovery experts Belfor, ServiceMaster Clean by Ameri-Steam, and ServePro have joined together to sponsor the program.
Jerry Colosimo of Belfor adds "I know I speak for everyone at Belfor when I express how proud we are to be involved in the Disaster Experience. When competitors work together for a common cause it only reinforces the integrity of BOMA and its members.
Jennifer Taylor of ServiceMaster Clean by Amer-Steam went on to say "With all the disasters we have seen, not having a plan is devastating but having fully tested if the plan works is catastrophic. We are honored to be participating along side the BOMA organization in "The Disaster Experience." An ounce of Prevention is worth a pound of Cure."
James Powers of Servpro added "The impact of a disaster is intensified with the lack of planning and preparation. BOMA has taken center stage in presenting 'The Disaster Experience', and ServPro is pleased to join the other corporate sponsors in such a worthy event."
