The Effective Citizen
(PRWEB) July 31, 2005 -- This is a transcript of my first podcast.
Good morning, Good Evening, Good Afternoon, wherever you are and wherever youre listening, this is another edition of The Effective Citizen, with me August Harper your host on this beautiful Friday morning.
It is July 29, 2005. And you know theres a lot of us out there that feel like there is something wrong, but are unsure, or unable to put there finger on it. I know, because I was one of them. I started noticing little hypocrisies, and contradictions. I began to notice the same arguments being used by both sides. It wasnt until I sat back, and took a cold hard look at the facts that I began to realize what was taking place. There is no left or right paradigm, there is only government. And contrary to popular belief, they are not always working in your best interest.
Effective Citizen Show #1
Throughout history there have been those who seek to dominate the world, Temijin, or Ginghas Kahn very nearly ruled the globe in his time, as did the mighty Romans, and if youve ever taken a look at a map of the English Empire youll know what I mean. World domination is a game that has been played for centuries. Why then, I wonder is it so difficult to believe that it is still going on? That, that type of stuff could never happen in my country.
What I have discovered cannot and should not remain a public secret. I say public secret because; these things are widely available. One only needs the time to find it. Which is what brings me to the point. My purpose in creating this show is to offer to those who are either too busy, unable, or simply unwilling to do the research on their own. I seek to revise and amplify your worldview.
Many of us have come to the realization that the corporate or mainstream" media has been rather untruthful to us as of late, as though following some sort of prescribed agenda, and as such need a serious revitalization of fresh voices. The information presented on this show will come from media both corporately owned, in order to examine the spin, as well as from independent and alternative media. I break the last two into separate categories, although they really are the same things. The grouping refers to investigative reporting following under the heading independent" and the alternative media consisting primarily of the fringe voices, blogs web forums and such.
The news found on the program may not always be political, although a large margin of it will be, I feel a blend of varying ideas and concepts are the key to understanding our universe. And really, at the end of the day, this show is about the search for truth, the essence of what life truly means to me.
Now some will ask what an effective citizen is and how they can become one. That is an excellent question and one which can be answered simply, effective citizens are informed and by being so, do not fall into the pitfalls and traps as more uninformed ill-effective citizens do. An effective citizen knows their rights, and understands what freedom means. An effective citizen respects privacy and understands how that privacy must be respected for everyone. An effective citizen engages others in conversation about the world around them, and the direction it is taking. These are merely some examples of being effective, and active.
I think Ive established the essence of the show, so lets get right into it. Some people have espoused recently that we live in Orwellian times that our very existence is now resembling the Novel 1984. Some may not know the background of the book by George Orwell, who was born Eric Blair. Eric Blair served in various forms for the communist government as well as the socialism in England; he was a journalist working for the BBC. In the book he wrote 1984, Winston Smith working for the Ministry of Defense removing politically incorrect" material from the newswires, which were then deposited into tubes and whisked away to the memory hole. Blairs version of the future was taken from what he observed while switching sides and recognizing the false deceptions of both. The controlling factor is the government itself. The book was written in 1948, and was not necessarily a premonitory work, nor was it a work of complete fiction. It was a testament to what could" happen if left unattended. What could happen to the citizens if they were to become less than vigilant in the guarding of their freedoms?
In the work 1984 the nation of Oceania is and has always been at war with East Asia, and constant bombardments of the Island is a daily reminder of that war. When it becomes apparent to Winston that the bombs are being perpetrated by the very nation that he calls home, Winston has the choice to ignore the facts, or speak out against them. When we are given new information, that conflicts with our current perception of the universe, information that may challenge our current paradigm, how should we behave? Should we ignore the knowledge, and disregard it out of hand? Or should we accept it for what it is, and examine the truth behind it? The latter is of course the choice to be made.
