Groundbreaking Instruction for Pre-Teens with Big Acting Dreams

Faith Collins, acting coach and noted performing artist opens 'Groundbreaking Studios doors to 7-12 year olds in August 2005. Ms. Collins current students believe she has life changing techniques to offer young performers.

Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) July 31, 2005 -- Faith Collins, acting teacher, decides to add The Young Performers Theatre Camp to her Groundbreaking Studios summer course load after coming to the conclusion that she must be the one to train her 7-year-old daughter theatre arts.

There are many different styles of teaching kids the performance arts, but many of the techniques taught today stifle the creative process that comes so naturally to children. If young people rely on a method that hampers their own creativity they may become stuck and stop growing artistically once they reach adulthood," says Faith Collins in reference to why she is developing a summer camp for 7 to 12-year-olds.

The Young Performers Theatre Camp will be an intense two weeks of learning everything from theatre basics, voice techniques and building a scene, to improvisation and stage movement. What sets this camp apart from the hundreds of other performance camps being offered in Hollywood is the emphasis Ms. Collins places on the personal growth of each individual she works with.

This class is based on dealing with the individual. It is like no other class in that Faith works with everything that the individual brings to the class. She emphasizes that everything the actor needs is already there and, in many cases, simply needs to be unblocked," said Amber Allen, student from Ms. Collins adult class.

To maintain the quality of her instruction, Ms. Collins will be instituting a similar class size restriction on her Theatre Camp to the one she has for her adult classes. The pre-teen years are an extremely important time for confidence building and Ms. Collins hopes to send each of her pre-teens back to school armed with a love of theatre and creative techniques that can help each grow both individually and professionally.

Anyone can learn technique. I come to this class because I trust Faith. She is no nonsense, very honest, but never brutal," said Erick Linares, student in Ms. Collins adult class.

Parents Open House will be from 9am -12pm on August 6. Parents will be able to meet Ms. Collins, review the curriculum and pre-register children for camp. Since camp class size will be limited, a deposit of $100 is required at the time of registration to secure placement. The remaining balance is due on the first day of camp. Total camp cost is $495.

Camp starts Monday, August 15 and ends Friday, August 26. Classes are held Monday thru Friday from 8:30am to 3pm. For more information about The Young Performers Camp and the Adult Actors classes you may contact them at http://www.groundbreakingstudios.com or call 818-754-4331.
