As a Brazilian fashion designer and fine artist, Chris Barreto embodies her roots of indigenous culture in every aspect of her work. Developing her own concept of fashion, she created the word "SERHUMANARTE," translating to "beinghumanart.”

Ms. Barreto first gained recognition in 1993 when Madonna and her dancers wore her designs for Brazil's "Rock in Rio" concert. In 2000 Wolford, Inc., the premier international producer of women's body wear and hosiery selected Ms. Barreto to create unique high-end items for their boutiques in New York City and Miami. In 2001, Barreto’s designs were featured in Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Jalouse magazines. The Guggenheim Museum featured Ms. Barreto's fashion designs during the Brazil: Body and Soul exhibition.
