28th Annual Frank M. Engle Lecture Upcoming at The American College

David M. Walker, Comptroller General of the United States, will deliver this year's Frank M. Engle Lecture on September 28 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the La Grassa Auditorium at The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The title of Mr. Walker's speech is "A Look at Our Future: When Baby Boomers Retire." Mr. Walker will discuss the nation's financial condition and growing fiscal imbalance; changing economic, demographic, and other workforce conditions; the problems facing our retirement and health care systems; and other current and emerging issues. The Engle Lecture is free and open to the public.

Bryn Mawr, PA (PRWEB) August 3, 2005 -- David M. Walker, Comptroller General of the United States, will deliver this year's Frank M. Engle Lecture on September 28 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the La Grassa Auditorium at The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The title of Mr. Walker's speech is "A Look at Our Future: When Baby Boomers Retire."

Now in its 28th year, the Engle Lecture is sponsored by The American College, the nation's leading financial services educator. The Engle Lecture is free and open to the public.

Mr. Walker will discuss the nation's financial condition and growing fiscal imbalance; changing economic, demographic, and other workforce conditions; the problems facing our retirement and health care systems; and other current and emerging issues. "Elected officials will need to make difficult choices to get America back on a prudent and sustainable fiscal path," said Mr. Walker.

As Comptroller General of the United States, Mr. Walker is the nation's chief accountability officer and head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), an independent agency in the legislative branch of the federal government. GAO's mission is to help improve the performance and ensure the accountability of the federal government for the benefit of the American people.

Before being appointed as Comptroller General, Mr. Walker had extensive executive level experience in both government and the private sector. He served as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Pension and Welfare Benefit Programs from 1987 to 1989 as was a Public Trustee for Social Security and Medicare from 1990 to 1995.

Until 1998, Mr. Walker was a partner and global managing director of the human capital services practice at Arthur Andersen, LLP in Atlanta, Georgia. His full biography is available at GAO's website at www.gao.gov.
