Kim McLean and Devon O'Day Share Songwriter/Indie Artist secrets in a one day workshop in Charlotte, NC at the Evening Muse, Saturday, August 6th, followed by a concert. Topics to be covered include: "The Sacred art of Songwriting", "Finding the Artist Within", "Career support for the Songwriter/Indie Artist", "Getting Airplay", "Song Pitch Etiquette" and more. The second half of the all day workshop will be used to listen to songs on a first come first served basis from workshop participants. Instead of critiques, encouragement and hope will be offered, and suggested targets for the individual songwriter to better find success.
The entire day's workshop's cost is $30.00 payable through the NSAICharlotte.com site.
Following the workshop, at 8pm, Kim McLean and Devon O'Day will be featured in concert at the Evening Muse, under separate cover of $6.
Kim McLean has had over 200 songs recorded in the Gospel field, including a Dove Award for Song of the Year for 'Count Your Blessing" recorded by the Martins. Her country music credits include recordings by Tim McGraw, Lee Ann Womack, Billy Gilman, and an ASCAP Award for Jennifer Hanson's "Beautiful Goodbye".
Devon O'Day was most recently featured as a songwriter on George Strait's multi-platinum "50 Number Ones" (The Big One). She's also ranked cuts with Hank Williams, Jr., Trace Adkins, Lee Ann Womack, and Ray Stevens.
Together, Kim McLean and Devon O'Day, have formed the chic indie-label, Hippie Chick Twang featuring Kim McLean, Eve Selis, Leilah, and Sonia Lee. The first single for the label, "Angels and Eagles", a duet with Kim McLean and Dolly Parton, hit Top Ten on the PowerSource charts.
