Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright will join hundreds of mothers, fathers and children on August 27th for the Fifth Anniversary Celebration of the Montgomery office of the Assisted Reproductive Technology Fertility Program of Alabama, the largest infertility program in the State. ART has been providing care in Montgomery and surrounding areas since November 2000 and is a leader in utilizing cutting edge technologies to offer patients the most convenient and successful methods of assisted reproduction.

In 1984, Dr. Kathryn Honea, founder of The ART Fertility Program, founded and directed the first In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) program in Alabama, through which the first baby conceived by IVF was born in the State. Currently, over 1,300 babies have been born to patients through IVF services, over 100 born from egg donation and over 50 born from TESA.

The ART Fertility Program of Alabama at Montgomery provides comprehensive therapies available to couples including:

-- In Vitro Fertilization

-- Ovulation induction with intrauterine insemination

-- Egg donation – for couples where the woman does not produce healthy eggs

-- Sperm donation – for couples where the man does not produce sperm

-- Financial assistance programs

-- If a surgical procedure is required for IVF, the procedure is performed in the Birmingham office

Having pioneered the novel use of communication technology to provide comprehensive care five days a week for patients of the ART Fertility Program of Alabama at Montgomery, consultations between patients and physicians are performed via videoconference at the patient’s convenience. Sarah Shoemaker, a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner, specialty trained in infertility care, has five years of experience providing compassionate care for couples in the Montgomery office. By utilizing videoconferencing, patients save travel time and risks and receive state-of-the-art care near their homes. All services are available to patients on a continuous basis through the ART Fertility Program of Alabama.
