The Woodlands, Texas (PRWEB) August 4, 2005
The thought of helping children with math homework can make most parents feel a bit queasy. Homeschooling parents are no exception to this nearly universal truth. The upcoming Annual THSC State Convention and Family Conference on August 11th to 13th features presentations to deal directly with issues surrounding math.
ÂMath continues to be a subject that many parents lack confidence in. ItÂs often cited as a roadblock to making the commitment to full time homeschooling, says Tim Lambert, president of the Texas Home School Coalition, ÂThat is why we are so excited about the speakers weÂve been able to book for this yearÂs conference.Â
Dr. Fred Worth is one of two featured speakers at this yearÂs event to directly address math issues. Worth, a professor of mathematics at Henderson State University and a homeschooling parent will be speaking from personal and professional experience. His presentations will provide hints and practical advice to reduce fear and encourage confidence. David Quine, founder of Cornerstone Curriculum will share on the topic of Making Math Meaningful.
Sessions offered throughout the three-day conference are intended to appeal to a wide spectrum of homeschooling families. The annual event provides an ideal opportunity for anyone considering or pursuing homeschooling to access the variety of home school choices and resources available in one convenient location.
ÂWhether we are demystifying math in particular, or homeschooling in general, says Lambert, Âour goal is to answer questions and provide support to families no matter where they are in the homeschooling journey.Â
