Computer Consumers Pay More, Get Less!
Computer consumers say they look for bargains when it comes to online shopping but pay more for less from the bigger companies.
(PRWEB) August 5, 2005 -- While today's consumers are holding back on spending these days they still have a tendency to go with Big Name companies who charge more than the smaller businesses that offer the same products for a lesser price.
Tim, owner of A Geek Named Tim, an online computer store in the Western Washington area claims that sales are no match compared to the bigger wholesalers like Dell, Gateway and HP when it comes to sales.
Tim states that "Although my prices are lower and customer support is as good as, if not better than, the "BIG" competitors, the majority of online computer shoppers tend to sway towards the more well known brand names.
Whatever happened to "Mom & Pop" businesses? Are they slowly fading out of the picture these days?
Remember passing the new, fancy restaurant for the smaller one on the side street that offered friendlier service and real home cooking?
It seems the smaller businesses are getting singled out and consumers are losing sight of what a true bargain is and what one on one customer service is all about.
Ebay on the other hand "is a great place for the little guys to get noticed", according to Tim.
Going outside of Ebay and trying to build up a reputation can be devastating.
I've tried going outside of Ebay so I wouldn't have to pay their fee's but it still can be costly with Search Engines and local advertising.
"I sell the same computers for the same prices as I do on Ebay, even lower in some cases and they still have problems selling outside of Ebay".
Tim is proud of his Tech Support because he feels the bigger a company gets, they tend to forget what Customer Service is all about.
"I won't put you on hold or have you guessing", says Tim. "I will be there for as long as you own my product".
Maybe someday things will start to click. Maybe the consumers will realize that small businesses help with the economy as well as the big companies do.
