Jump Starting the Connected Car

THE CONNECTED CAR is a seminar at the University of Cambridge, organised by the Communications Research Network. It will take place between Thursday 15th -- Friday 16th September 2005 at New Hall, University of Cambridge.

(PRWEB) August 6, 2005 -- A new generation of sentient vehicles is just around the corner. Recent developments in information and communications technology will have a profound effect on the shape of our transport systems in the coming decades. A lack of shared vision will severly limit the potential for innovation, so its vital that all the stakeholders in this rapidly developing sector work together on roadmapping the future of the connected car.

In this spirit of collaboration, the Connected Car seminar will bring together researchers, manufacturers, policy makers, economists and industry experts to explore the latest developments and predict future applications in the interface between communications and automotive technology.

Expert speakers from car manufacturers, regulatory bodies, telecommunicatons networks, insurance firms and the Department of Transport will examine pressing issues including standardising architecture and standards, congestion charging, road pricing, vehicle positioning, opportunistic networking, traffic management systems, environmental impact and the contentious prospect of pay as you drive" insurance systems.

We would be delighted if you could attend what promises to be an important event. The price of attending the Connected Car seminar, including dinner at Trinity Hall College, is 250 + VAT. This fee is waived for invited members of the press.
