Computer Customer Service, A Thing of the Past?

Why are the big computer companies losing sight of their Customer Support?

(PRWEB) August 8, 2005 -- Once upon a time, certain computer companies took pride in the amount of customer service they provided as part of their services but these days customers are far from feeling supported.

"What brings this on?" asks Tim of A Geek Named Tim, http://geeknamedtim.com an online computer store who builds his own computers and is known for his dependable customer support.

"Is it the case of a company getting too big and losing site of what was once so important?"

Tim agrees that it can become very demanding but he feels that it is one of the most important parts of selling to his customers. "Once my computers leave and are on they're way to the customer is when my support starts. I take pride in what I build. I test and retest each system before shipping but in the case that something should happen, I'm always there to support my customers."

All it takes is a Google search under each computer company's name to find out that the complaints from customers are overwhelming.

"People buy from these companies mainly because their names are well known. Its just sad that consumers feel they have to buy from a company that is lacking in its support for its products, consumers don't like to be put on hold or kept guessing" is another reason Tim's support is so well noted in his positive feedback score on eBay, where he also sells his computers from time to time.

"Not everyone is technically proficient and they don't want to feel abandoned when it comes to issues with their new product. To have the feeling you have a friend who cares can be very comforting," says Tim. "I put myself in my customers shoes. I want results and solutions and in a timely manner".

Perhaps this is why the "Bigger" companies are losing their battle with good customer service. They don't care to put themselves in the customers shoes. They give support for products they haven't personally built or even touched.

"I've been building computers since 1995 and have put my heart into each and every one of them because they were built by me."

Americans are buying more computers than any other nation. Currently over 50% of US households owns a computer and the numbers are climbing so what does the future hold for Computer Customer Support? We can only hope for the best.
