"Angels and Eagles," Kim McLean and Dolly Parton Inspire Nominations

Songwriter Kim McLean joins Dolly Parton for an Inspirational Duet that gets an ICMA nod.

(PRWEB) August 11, 2005 -- Southern Gospel Songwriter/Artist, Kim McLean has made the Top Ten Nomination Ballot for the Inspirational Country Music Awards, coming up in November. Kim has been nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year as well as Duet of the Year for her collaboration, Angels and Eagles" (A Mothers Prayer) with Dolly Parton. The awards will be broadcast LIVE on GAC, Thursday, Nov. 10th. This is Kim McLeans first nomination as an artist, however this will not be her first award show.

Kim McLean wrote under the name, Kim Patton-Johnston for many years garnering cuts by everyone from Vestal Goodman to Kathie Lee Gifford, to LordSong and Sierra. Count Your Blessing" won Song of the Year at the Dove Awards in the Country/Gospel Category. I See" by LordSong, was also a Kim Patton-Johnston songwriting nomination at the Dove Awards. Songs like Misty Freemans Faith, Hope, and Love" and What Judas Didnt Know" or the Freemans Last Train" have had strong reaction and airplay for the Kim McLean Music composition catalog. Kim returned to her maiden name of McLean" in the launching of her artist career, because it was much simpler for people to remember.

Her discography names nearly 200 songs recorded and re-recorded in the Southern Gospel genre. She began writing gospel music in her home state of North Carolina, influenced by her songwriting grandmother, Sara McLean, who played roadhouse-gospel-swingin piano at church, and programmed a Southern Gospel radio station. Kim dreamed of getting songs recorded by acts her grandmother played on the air. Moving to Nashville, and writing for a secular company didnt thwart her plans. Woody Bomar, pioneer of Little Big Town Music, and now head of Sony Musics Songwriting Division, believed and supported Kim McLeans gospel catalog as much as he did her secular writing. He got Kim her first Gospel 'cut.

Beginning first in Gospel, and branching into Country, Americana, Contemporary Christian, and Alternative, Kim McLean continues to write with Gods Spirit in her work. Shes had songs recorded by Tim McGraw, Lee Ann Womack, Jennifer Hanson, and more...yet she has never strayed from her inspirational roots. When Bill Gaither shook her hand at a Nashville fundraiser, he thanked her for personally 'changing the parameters of what Southern Gospel music could be. She created her own style of groove-gospel", influenced as much by Elvis rockabilly as the Florida Boys.

Kim McLean produced Lisa Brokops new CD, Hey Do You Know Me" for Curb Records, which is up for Album of the Year at the upcoming Canadian Country Music Awards. Kim and Lisa co-wrote the title cut, up for Song of the Year. Hey Do You Know Me," though secular in release, is based on the scripture noting we walk among angels, unaware." The CCMAs will be broadcast LIVE on CMT, Sept. 12th from Calgary.

Look for Kim McLeans new single, Unapologetic," on the Family Music Group compilation at Southern Gospel Radio now.
