Record Exec Embarrassed About Leaking Song To Internet
An innocent mistake in emailing posted Reb Robinson's release of "A Soldier's Daughter" to the Internet almost a month ahead of it's release date.
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) August 11, 2005 -- Janet Fisher, owner of Goodnight Kiss Records in Hollywood, CA, made a simple mistake that let the song, "A Soldier's Daughter" make an early escape to the Internet, before the official release date of the record.
"I'm sure, however it happened, it was innocent," claims Fisher, whose intent was to relay the information only to the other writers involved in the release. "I thought I was posting to a private list, but either the search engines found the posted test page, or one of the Beta testers passed the link along to someone outside the circle -- however the song got to the web, ultimately it's my own responsibility."
Fisher and Brit Paul Saunders were working on an online promotion, the "Pass It On Campaign," for a new album by artists who have military ties. The promotion would provide a free song download from the new "Rhythm Of Honor" album which has a scheduled release date of September 1, 2005, and raise awareness for the efforts of the Wounded Warriors Hospital Fund.
"I wouldn't mind so much the promotion starting early, as that's the whole purpose, to Pass It On. What I hated was that the early postcard had some text errors in it, and not as much pertinent information as the final version does," reflected Saunders.
"This is such an intelligent cause, I hope everyone who saw it still passed it on, even though it jumped the gun. There is a Colonel running a recovery hospitals fund who is counting on that campaign even more than we are. What's a couple of commas when the cause is righteous!" Fisher grins, "Of course, we're still working to change any copies out there."
