Drexel University announces the launch of three new online Master degree programs in Engineering.

Drexel University, one of the top 50 private, non-profit, national doctoral/research universities in the U.S., announces the launch of three new online Master degree programs in Engineering. Offered by Drexel's College of Engineering, the largest private engineering college in the country, the new programs include an online Master's in Electrical Engineering, a Master’s in Computer Science and a Master’s in Software Engineering.

"We are excited to provide busy engineers with an online learning venue in Engineering Disciplines that are seeing increased demand from employers and industry. We feel that these new degree programs are an excellent addition to our existing online program in Engineering Management,” said Dr. Stephen Smith, Associate Dean for Distance Learning. “Through our online degrees, engineers can obtain the skills and knowledge needed to become leaders in their field from one of America’s leading academic institutions, in a flexible online format” added Dr. Smith.

As technology advances in the 21st Century, new opportunities and challenges arise. Drawing on its excellence of successfully educating engineers since 1891, Drexel University has met these challenges by playing a key leadership role in shaping the engineering education of today by providing unique educational and research opportunities in the forefront of online engineering degrees:

The Master of Science in Electrical Engineering boasts strong foundations in theory, to equip students with the skills necessary to grasp and develop new technologies and trends in the field. Students advance skills in the areas of Computer Engineering, Power Engineering, Robotics, Signal Processing, Telecommunications Engineering, Solid State Physics, and Electronics.

The Master of Science in Computer Science offers students career-oriented course work that places equal emphasis on theory and practice to prepare students for work on the cutting edge of technology. The curriculum provides a solid foundation and training for practicing computational scientists, computer specialists or software engineers in business, industry or government.

The Master of Science in Software Engineering provides students with an understanding of the latest technologies and tools that are being developed and encompasses behavioral, managerial and technical aspects of software engineering. This program prepares students for key roles in industry, government agencies, academia and other institutions.

Combining the convenience of online study with the academic rigor and reputation of Drexel’s College of Engineering, Drexel offers high-level graduate programs with strong foundations in theory, to equip students with the skills necessary to grasp and develop new technologies and trends in their respected fields. Drawing on the diverse expertise of distinguished Drexel University faculty, the highly interactive online learning format enhances opportunities for interaction among peers and with instructors who are committed to their students' success.

The faculty members of Drexel’s College of Engineering enjoy national and international reputations and belong to prestigious professional organizations such as National Academy of Engineering and IEEE. In addition, the College of Engineering has received more than $28 million from the National Science Foundation to develop the Drexel Engineering Curriculum. Known as tDEC, our multidisciplinary curriculum integrates engineering fundamentals and professional competencies to create a “seamless educational fabric,” which has become an international model for engineering education.

“At Drexel, we do not distinguish between our online and our on-campus students,” says Dr. Kenneth Hartman, Academic Director of Drexel e-Learning, Inc. the online subsidiary of Drexel University. “Our online degrees and certificates follow the same rigorous academic standards as our on campus programs and are taught by the same renowned faculty to ensure that our online students obtain the same Drexel University education,” added Dr. Hartman.
