S. M. Stirling, Award Winning Author, To Headline FenCon 2005: Science Fiction Literary Convention To Feature More Than 60 Writers, Artists, and Singers
FenCon is a fan-operated science fiction and fantasy literary and filk convention scheduled for September 23 - 25, 2005 in Dallas, Texas. FenCon will feature Writers, Readings, Concerts, an Art Show, Science, a Dealers Room, Gaming, Panel Discussions, Autographs, and a Costume Contest.

Stirling, award winning creator of works such as the Draka series, the Island in the Sea of Time trilogy, the General series with David Drake, and the Flight Engineer series with James "Scotty" Doohan, will be Guest of Honor at FenCon (www.fencon.org), a literary science fiction/fantasy and filk convention scheduled for September 23-25, 2005, at the Holiday Inn Select North Dallas in Dallas, Texas.
Along with Stirling, FenCon will feature Leslie Fish, a pioneer of filk music, winner of eight Pegasus Awards, and perhaps the most famous filker in the world as Filk Guest of Honor. She's also a writer and her most recent novel, The Sword of Knowledge, a collaboration with C. J. Cherryh, Mercedes Lackey, and Nancy Asire, was released by Baen Books in January 2005. David Gerrold, Toastmaster, is a Hugo and Nebula winning author with more than 40 books to his credit. He's written for a dozen or so television series, most famously the beloved "The Trouble With Tribbles" episode of Star Trek. Multiple Hugo and Nebula award-winning author and editor Mike Resnick, Special Guest, will be leading FenCon's first writers workshop. This intense series of sessions is the perfect way for an aspiring writer to sharpen their skills and learn from one of the masters of science fiction. Resnick is a winner of the 2005 Hugo Award for Best Short Story. The artwork of Larry Dixon, Artist Guest of Honor, can be found on numerous book covers and in role-playing games. Dixon was also the Great Eagles reference advisor for the Lord of the Rings trilogy and has co-written several novels with his wife, Mercedes Lackey.
An exciting science fiction convention, FenCon will offer numerous activities including informative and instructional panels, an art show, filk concerts, a video room, an open gaming area, and a costume contest.
More than 60 guests, including writers, filk singers and artists, are scheduled to appear at this three-day event, offering their expertise and experience in several venues for attendees. Filk concerts (folk music with a science fiction twist) will run all day Saturday. The dealers room will house more than twenty vendors selling merchandise ranging from books to shirts to jewelry.
