African American Business Leader Embarks on Speaking Tour

Quintin L. King, first African American President/CEO of Litigation Trade Associaiton, to speak for free.

(PRWEB) August 16, 2005 -- Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio's, poor east side community of Central Avenue, Quintin L. King attended Cleveland public schools until the 6th grade, when he received a scholarship to the exclusive University Preparatory School in Shaker Heights and Hunting Valley Ohio. At University School, he became the first African American to win both the 8th grade and the senior Speech Awards in the School's more than one hundred year history

Following his graduation from preparatory school, King attended DePaul University, where he was graduated with honors. During his time at DePaul he was a campus leader, serving as Vice President of Student Gvernment. He was also a leader off campus, where he worked to organize the students of DePaul for mayoral candidate Harold Washington, whom King had met the summer before while King served as an LBJ intern to Congressman Louis Stokes of Ohio. King's deep respect for then-Congressman Washington led him to work for Washington's campaign in the historical 1983 mayoral election.

King served on the staff of the House Ethics Committee and participated in the investigation of alleged illicit activities between Congressmen and their pages. King's work on this committee won him a commendation from the committee's Special Counsel -- former Health Education and Welfare cabinet member Joseph Califano. After graduation from DePaul, King was admitted to the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He graduated from this Ivy League School in the spring of 1986. During his time there, he was an editor of the University's Journal of Comparative Labor Law, and a staff Assistant to the Philadelphia Special Investigation Committee, where he drew on his investigative background to aid in the investigation of the bombing of a Philadelphia neighborhood by Philadelphia Police as a result of a stand-off with the radical group MOVE. The incident and resulting fire destroyed much of the aforementioned neighborhood. King was also the Vice President of the Black Law Student Associaiton at Penn, and Vice President of the Black Graduate and Professional Student Association.

Since his graduation from law school, King was held various positions with law firms, Insurance Companies, and Insurance Trade Associations. Most notably, he is currently serving as President of the National Association of Insurance Litigation Management, an associaiton of Insurance Executives and Law Firms that represent Insurance Companies in tort matters.

King has also served as a Senior Claims Counsel and Litigation Manager for Numerous Large Insurance Companies In this capacity, King has been responsible for coordinating the defense of multi- million dollar litigation in both the United States and Canada.

King's community and civic involvement has been plentiful, including, but not limited to the following:

- Recording Secretary, Insurance Advisory Committee of the Rand Corporation's Institute for Civil Justice
- Chairman, Communications over-site committee, DePaul University Alumni Association
- The Board of Directors of DePaul University's Alumni Association
- Member, DePaul University College of Liberal Arts Alumni Advisory council
- Member, Defense Research Institute
- Member, American League of Lobbyist
- Commissioner, Oak Park Historic Preservation Commission
- American Heart Association, Midwest Chapter, Advocacy Board Advisory Committee
- Technology Committee, National Associaiton of Insurance Litigation Management

King is also a prolific political fundraiser, having raised money for Illinois Senate President, Emil Jones, Senate Candidate Barack Obama, and a myriad of other state, local, national and even international campaigns. King also serves on numerous boards, including:
- Board of Directors, Aron Communications.
- Board of Directors, Valley Kingdom Business Institute
- Board of Directors, Mortgage Management Systems

King is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National honor society for Political science, Pi Gamma Mu, the national honor society for social sciences and will be included in Who's Who in the United States, 60th anniversary edition.

King to speak for free
In addition to his work at the NAILM, King is Senior Partner at Lord and King/Associates a multi- disciplinary professional services firm primarily representing businesses, Associations and Insurance companies in Litigation Management, Government Affairs and Regulatory affairs. The firm has offices in Chicago and Washington, DC.
King speaks for free and only requires travel expenses.
