CMO Council and KnowledgeStorm Study Looks to "Define What's Valued Online"

Study explores technology content usage and its influence on IT buying.

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council, an elite affinity group of chief marketing executives in the high technology industry, and KnowledgeStorm, the Internet's top-ranked technology content and search site, have partnered to explore the critical relationship between online technology researchers and IT vendors. To give both buyers and solution vendors greater insight into purchase decisions, the CMO Council and KnowledgeStorm are currently fielding a study titled Define What's Valued Online, which investigates where and how IT buying is shaped, influenced, qualified and driven by online content syndication and consumption.

Millions of B-to-B technology buyers gather real-time, relevant data from multiple online sources as they seek to make more informed and complex purchasing decisions. Both business and technology executives are involved in gathering knowledge, insight and third-party validation during the process of sourcing business-critical IT solutions and services.

Both organizations will use their extensive resources in fielding the study. For its part, the CMO Council is conducting qualitative interviews with technology buyers and sellers, and a quantitative survey of its membership to gauge the level of dependence, confidence, trust and value placed on the online content.

At the same time, KnowledgeStorm is utilizing its opt-in user base to conduct an audit and analysis of technology content being sourced, viewed and downloaded across multiple categories and vertical-industry sectors.

The results of the Define What's Valued Online study will guide marketing executives in determining where they should be investing their resources.
