Indianapolis is not only the home to one of the most world renowned auto races, it can also boast how two men’s love for their children has brought delight to other families thanks to the internet. Wicked Rocket, http://www.wickedrocket.com, is one of the lowest priced dealers on the net selling ATVs, go-carts and what’s known as pocket bikes - miniature version of motorcycles - so families everywhere can enjoy them. Bill Vernon talks about how the hobby of his friend Tim Perry grew into a thriving business for both of them.

“It all started some time ago, when Tim got this grand idea that his kids needed another way to expend some energy. His wife figured it was just him wanting to be a kid again, but he ended up buying them three KMX-50s Kids ATVs. He had to show me how cool these little ATVs were, which he called “four wheel fun for everyone.” I saw how much fun his kids were having on them and, with two kids of my own, I thought I’d get the same.”

Not to be out-done by his pal, Bill approached his wife about getting some Kazuma Meercat 50s for their children. With a host of colors, a 49cc Air Cooled 4 stroke engine (no need to mix oil and gas) and a top speed of a ripping 20 mph, he felt the kids could enjoy ATVing. But Bill’s wife’s immediate response was no because she felt they were too young and would hurt themselves. Bill then went about presenting all the safety features of the Meercat 50s and how after proper training their children would be fine.

“Of course I closed my presentation with the manly whine of, ‘But Tim's kids have them,’” Bill explains with a laugh. “Either it was the constant pleading by me, my son and my daughter, or my wife was really paying attention during the safety lessons, but in any event, she eventually said, ‘Yes.’”

Soon after everyone had their toys and the families were happy. But then the neighbors wanted some too, along with school friends and extended family members. Seeing the demand of the hobby, the group decided to take things to the next level.

“Suddenly, we get the idea of starting a company so every family and neighbor in the US has a new toy of their own to enjoy. We started by getting a web site and the coolest of the cool bikes and we offer them at the lowest of the low prices to make them affordable to everyone. Our freight company was set up next to accept orders and deliver these 'monster machines' to everyone's dock or doorstep. Pretty soon, Wicked Rocket was born.”

Wicked Rocket now supplies a host of items for young and old motorcycling enthusiasts - ATVs, go-carts, pocket bikes, scooters, dirt bikes, atv helmets and accessories. They even have their own ATV T-shirt line now and continue their growth by offering the latest ATV’s and ATV trailers/haulers to go along with ATVs or dirt bikes.

“We've had fun riding, building, marketing, and growing this company into what it is now,” Bill says. “We continue to grow and we’ve got our wives and kids to thank for not only making a thriving business but for making us feel young again.”
