Bob's Discount Furniture and Gene Rosenberg Associates Raise More than $300,000 for Local Charities
More than 200 golfers and nearly 400 dinner attendees provide record donations.
Farmington, CT (PRWEB) August 18, 2005 -- The eighteenth annual Bob's Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation and Gene Rosenberg Associates Golf Outing has raised more than $300,000, exceeding the initial goal. The golf outing was held in Farmington, CT on August 9th 2005 at the Tunxis Country Club, followed by a dinner and raffle at the Farmington Club. More than 200 golfers participated, and close to 400 attended the dinner. Major charities receiving support from the outing include: The American Cancer Societys Camp Rising Sun, The Nutmeg Chapter of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Family and Childrens Aid, and The Connecticut Childrens Medical Center.
Bobs Charitable Foundation started in 1986 with a mission to help children in need. "Bobs Charitable Foundation continuously seeks additional support so it can provide more assistance to those youngsters who havent been given a fair shot at childhood," said co-organizer Gene Rosenberg, "As friends and business partners, we want to help."
When kids come to Camp Rising Sun they come because they are kids, not kids with cancer! Their week at camp becomes extraordinary thanks to Bobs Charitable Foundation. This year the kids will be treated to a Tropical Paradise theme including pu-pu platters, and a steel drum concert on the beach followed by fireworks," said Tina Saunders of Camp Rising Sun.

In addition to distributing significant funds each year, the Foundation provides gift certificates to various agencies for clients with children who need some extra help obtaining bedding and furniture.
