Lifestyle guru George Hirsch, who has fascinated and delighted PBS viewers for 14 years with his four previous cooking/lifestyle series, launches a fast-paced, new version of his latest hit skein, George Hirsch Living It Up!, on September 3. The 26 weekly half-hours, from Hirsch Productions, are distributed by Orlando-based Television Syndication Company (TVS) and feature delicious recipes that are easy to prepare, world class locations, helpful home improvement ideas, lots of interesting unique information and a wide range of recreational activities to help viewers develop a healthy, lively and fulfilling approach to life.
With its premiere weekend of September 3rd, Mr. HirschÂs new series had been picked up by as many as 130 stations, reaching 65 million households. The station line Âup includes KHIZ-TV Los Angeles, WPSJ Philadelphia, KFTY San Francisco-San Jose, WJAL Washington D.C., WMFD/WOHZ Cleveland-Akron, KWHD Denver, KMAX/KOVR Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto and WBGN Pittsburgh. George Hirsch Living It Up! will also air on America One, Urban American Television and Foxnet.
Created, hosted and exec produced by Hirsch, each episode begins and ends with a savory cooking segment in his home kitchen in The Hamptons and includes a recreational activity section and a Âlive wellÂ part (that features travel, home, food, wine, dining and much more). Highly scenic locations in the first 26 episodes include Italy, Ireland, London, New York City, New Orleans, Sedona, Montauk (Eastern Long Island) and the Caribbean.

ÂIn our second episode, airing September 10, we visit Ashford Castle in IrelandÂs County Mayo,Â Hirsch explains. ÂIt begins and ends with me cooking a cheddar-potato soup and a bacon-grilled vegetable salad. We get a fascinating lesson in falconry and then hit the links for golf tips and charming Irish banter from a major pro. Then we take a fascinating tour of this 13th Century castle resort, with its fabulous wine cellar, amenities, grounds and dining. Our Âlive wellÂ segment shows how to do effective advance travel planning with tourist groups.Â
Hirsch has a rich sense of humor and a very positive attitude, which colors every episode. ÂLife today is hard for many people, so I love creating happiness for a half-hour each week, by sharing the things that I enjoy and that fascinate me, fun things that are doable by anyone.

As a chef, Hirsch was deeply influenced by his Italian-American mother and grandmother. His Austrian-American father was a master gardener. He is a graduate with high honors from the Culinary Institute of America, a Certified Executive Chef and a Certified Culinary Educator.
As a five-time best selling cookbook author, The American Culinary Federation inducted him into the Academy of Chefs. He was the Culinary Director and developed the Culinary Arts Center at New York Institute of Technology, a fully accredited college-level culinary school, growing it from 35 students to 600, many of whom went on to cook at world-class restaurants, develop successful restaurant chains and write popular cookbooks.
