Each year the magazine combines feedback received from its readers with its own research to assemble a list of top boutique hotels the magazine feels will provide an outstanding vacation experience for Miami Beach visitors.
"Every year travelers ask us for recommendations on restaurants, nightclubs, cafes and spas in Miami Beach, but the one request we receive most often concerns hotels," said South Beach Magazine editor, Joseph Brown. "The proverbial 'room with a view' doesn't quite cut it for the Miami Beach crowd. They want hotels with access to premiere dining and especially a hot nightlife scene -- they want to experience the Miami Beach theyve read about," said Brown.
In compiling their Fab-Five list, South Beach Magazine looks for hotels with a trend-setting interior design and furnishings, proximity to upscale shopping, nightlife, and dining, and of course, easy beach access.
Trends in Miami Beach change with every winter season making it difficult for visitors to follow to the scene. As a prime example the magazine cites the Abbey Hotel...
"The Abbey up on 21st Street used to be at the far northern limit of South Beach action, but over the last two years the nightlife scene has expanded heavily into that area -- now known as the 'Cultural Arts District' -- and the Abbey finds itself right in the center of some of the hottest clubs in town such as Mynt, Rok Bar, SkyBar Miami Beach, and a new venue named Mokai which promises to be a South Beach trend-setter for the coming season," said Brown.
The magazine releases its list in late summer to allow travelers ample time to plan their visits. Unfortunately, people sometimes find that Miami Beach's prime hotels are sold-out during numerous events such as MTV's Video Music Awards, Winter Music Conference, White Party and others.
