Firm Tops $248 Million in North Carolina Hospital Construction

(PRWEB) August 20, 2005 -- Healthcare construction specialist Robins & Morton has projects valued at $248 million underway in North Carolina.
Jobs include Levine Children's Hospital, a 234-bed facility located on the campus of Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, due to open in 2007. The owner is Carolinas HealthCare System, the fourth largest public system in the nation. The construction cost is $102 million.
Robins & Morton is also under contract for $53 million in new construction and renovation for two facilities owned by Blue Ridge HealthCare, in association with Carolinas HealthCare System. A combined 100,000 square feet of new construction is underway for Grace Hospital in Morgantown and Valdese Hospital in Valdese, including high-profile outpatient centers on each campus.
Projects due to complete this year in North Carolina include a new bed tower in Dunn for Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital and a new Heart Center for Southeast Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. The combined construction total for those projects is $30 million.
In addition, a July groundbreaking started a $20.6 million project for Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden. Finally, a 2006 completion is set for a 171,000 square-foot emergency department and bed tower in Salisbury, N.C. for Rowan Regional Medical Center. The project is budgeted at $43 million in construction costs.
