Tufts Alum Returns to Campus to Headline Orientation Show

Tufts University and alum comedian Evan Wecksell announce free music event for all students on Friday, Sept. 2 at Oxfam Café.

MEDFORD, Massachusetts (PRWEB) August 22, 2005 -- With roughly 1,300 new students moving in to the Tufts campus and thousands more returning, orientation week can be one of the most overwhelming college experiences. However, Tufts University's Oxfam Cafe and Tufts graduate, comedian and singer-songwriter Evan Wecksell are injecting some much-needed melody and hilarity into the week.

On Friday, September 2 at Oxfam Cafe, Wecksell headlines a free Midnight Cafe orientation show to give new and returning students a much needed break from carrying boxes of clothes and books to their dorm rooms.

"It is beyond exciting to be performing back at Tufts," says Wecksell who graduated in 2001 with a major in child development and psychology. "I wouldnt even be playing guitar today if not for CD 51. I had to take up a new hobby and then apply class theory to my progress. I'm still progressing."

The show will not only entertain students with Wecksell's act, but also introduce them to a socially conscious live music venue. All the profits from Oxfam Cafe go to Oxfam America, an organization which funds self-development and disaster-relief projects worldwide. The cafe is also connected with the Oxfam Collective, which organizes campus-wide activities on hunger-related issues, such as the FAST for a World Harvest and the Hunger Banquet.

"We are very happy to have Evan playing our Midnight Cafe orientation show," raves Frances Dixon, Midnight Café Manager. "The show will be a great time in a socially conscious environment and provide the new students an alternative to drinking."

Oxfam Cafes orientation show takes place on Friday, September 2 at 10:00 PM. Oxfam Cafe is located on the Tufts University campus behind Miller Hall. The show is free and open to the public.

About Evan Wecksell:
Stand-up Comedian and Singer/Songwriter Evan Wecksell is one of the funniest and most energetic performers to emerge from New Yorks comedy clubs and musical venues. Often compared to comedic superstars Adam Sandler and Stephen Lynch, Evans act is a blend of comedy and music that celebrates dysfunctional relationships, endorses unorthodox career paths and makes fun of bad music. Later this year, Evan will appear on VH1s "I Love the 80s 3D," "I Love the 70s II" and "I Love the Holidays." For more information on Evan Wecksell please visit www.EvanWecksell.com.
