Mr. Dunston was recently honored by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and its Minority & Women Business Owners Committee recently honored Samuel L. Dunston, President and CEO of the National Allotment Agency, LTD., at its Annual Black History Month Celebration.

East Brooklyn National Black Chamber of Commerce CEO and President Lisa Washington is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Samuel L. Dunston, Sr. as Chairman, and she is justly proud of his 40+ years of prominence in the insurance and employee benefits fields, but not nearly as proud of the opportunities his prominence brings to the people around him. He is, in every sense of the word, a people person.

From his early years as a agent in North Carolina, to the founding of National Allotment Insurance Agency, Ltd., in 1997, and early home based business whose solidly steady growth today places it among the recognized leading outstanding minority owned and operated businesses in the New York metropolitan area. Samuel Dunston has been the consummate professional.

It is no accident that he is highly regarded in the business and civic communities; no accident that groups such as the Boys Scouts Council, numerous church councils and the Kiwanis are as eager or consul, as are the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce (for which he is the C0-Chairperson of the Women and Minority Business Development Committee), the Brooklyn Hospital Community Advisory Board, The Bronx Home Care Service, Inc. CABS Nursing Home, to name a few. Samuel Dunston works equally as comfortably with the neighborhood poor as he does with corporate leaders.

He puts as much energy into protecting the family of a neighborhood client who can afford only $3.00 a week as he does for the impressive list of companies on his client roster. And what a client roster it is:

The Brooklyn Navy Yard, North General Home Attendant Agency, The CABS Nursing Home, CABS Home Attendant Agency, CABS Housekeeping Agency, New York City Police Department, CWA Union Local 1182, Mendon Truck Leasing & Rental, United States Military Academy, Social Concern Community Development, Concord Family Services, Cannady Security Services, Bethel Day Care Center, Brownsville Community Development, Brooklyn Hospital, Key Span, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corp, Federation of Multicultural Programs, Inc…. and the list goes on.

Like the name National Allotment Insurance Agency, Ltd., Samuel Dunston’s approach to the business of business may be a little misleading. For instance, although they come under the banner of insurance, Samuel’s team provides full service, professional expertise in almost every phase of financial services.

When a company gets a health of welfare benefits plan from National Allotment, it typically contains more than just the underwriting, actuarial, operational analysis and administrative parameters. Usually there are cost containment alternatives, record-keeping guidelines and employee communications, publications, and statements.

It may not seem like much, but those are the little extras that catch the eye of the people who value quality, the people who reach out to associate themselves with those people who exemplifies that quality, and who reach out to Samuel.

In addition to the organizations named above, Samuel also serves on the Boards of the Greater New York Chapter of the 100 Black Men, and the 100+year old National Business League, The Brooklyn Sports Foundation, The Brooklyn Sportscasters Association, and the United States New Independent States Chamber of Commerce.

As you would expect, Samuel Dunston is a family man whose five children are justly proud of their father. He and his wife Reverend Patricia Dunston are long time residents of Freeport, New York.
