The Key to Autism Is Behind Keishas Doors

Childrens Books on Autism nominated for prestigious Dolly Gray Award for children's literature.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 24, 2005 -- Every other year the prestigious Dolly Gray Childrens Literature Award is presented to an outstanding childrens author. Out of thousands of books released over a two year period, only one is chosen for the award. Marvie Ellis has written a delightful series of books that address disabilities that children may encounter in their daily lives. Her first two books in the series, Keishas Doors: An Autism Story Book One and Tacos Anyone? An Autism Story Book Two, published in July 2005 by Speech Kids Texas Press, Inc, Austin, Texas, have received rave reviews from many experts in the field of childrens disabilities. Both books are nominated for the 2006 Dolly Gray Childrens Literature Award.

The Dolly Gray Childrens Literature Award is a bi-yearly childrens book award presented to authors who deal with disabilities in a sensitive, appropriate manner. Children have a natural curiosity about others, particularly when there are profound differences involved. The Dolly Gray award recognizes authors whose stories contribute in the understanding of these differences.

Marvie Ellis is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, Texas Speech-Language and Hearing Association, the Autism Society of America, and owns a private pediatric speech-language and occupational therapy practice. With both a Bachelors and a Masters degree in communication, Mrs. Ellis is eminently qualified to discuss communication issues. Her books help educators, parents and siblings of children with learning disabilities to understand the dynamics of these conditions.

There are countless awards recognizing so many different book qualities that seem to blend into a bland mix throughout the year. What makes the Dolly Gray award stand apart is its recognition of authors who address difficult issues confronting young children with disabilities. Congratulations to Marvie Ellis and good luck!
