Monte Smith and his vibrant style of street poetry are used in the hottest selling street novel: Dutch 2, the second in the three part series written by wrongly incarcerated writer Kwame Teague.

In the recently released second novel to the three part Dutch Series, Monte Smith has been included as a character in "Dutch 2," which has become the fastest selling novel in the streets since "Dutch." The character in the book is a poet named Monte who runs a spoken word night. The direct reference, in the novel, to Monte and his former night in Winston-Salem, NC, was pulled by the author – Kwame Teague, a good friend of Monte Smith. Kwame has noted that Monte Smith is the one poet doing “what really needs to be done, and is saying what needs to be said.” He lists Monte as one of his close friends and says he is the hottest Street Poet out right now.

Monte is currently about to release a limited run of a full length album called the Wargasm LP. The album is a fusion of street poetry and audio design featuring production by DJ Soundmachine and England’s DJ Vadim. The LP is slated to be release in limited numbers in mid to late May 2005.

In late 2005 Monte Smith will be releasing his second book, called Don’t Shoot The Hostages: Poetry For The Urban Survivalist Vol. 2. The book is currently being finished by Monte as it is being shopped to publishers.
