Chinese Negotiating with Army Rangers to Train Leadership and Teamwork

China is seeking expertise from the former U.S. Army Rangers who run Leading Concepts Inc. to bring western-style leadership skills to their managers. The Chinese are now entering the next phase of their growth plan; mergers and acquisitions. This shift means that they will need a more educated approach to leading and communicating with their workforce.

(PRWEB) August 24, 2005 -- Several years ago, Mr. Shibin Wang began searching for the right training program to bring to China. His search gained momentum when he met with Brace Barber, whose book; No Excuse Leadership was published in Chinese in 2004. They met in Guangzhou, China in September 2004 and immediately began making plans for cooperation.

In July 2005, Mr. Wang, traveled from Beijing, China, to the US for the first time as part of an exploratory trip. Only a few hours after arriving, he become part of the team of eleven starting the four-day, immersion team-building training conducted by Leading Concepts. His teammates included people from companies like Fidelity, Strideright and Monoplast. I felt like an island in the ocean," exclaimed Mr. Wang. By the end, I felt connected."

Mr. Wang said, In China, the leadership is very directive. The US understands management from hundreds of years of growth. China doesnt have the history of building entrepreneurial organizations. The information is easy to get, but we must have a way to get the details."

Mr. Barber added, China is leapfrogging many western companies by seeking to understand these leadership and teamwork details in a behavioral way, not simply from an academic perspective. Our program, though intense, produces results because we get people actively leading, experimenting, making mistakes and reflecting. Then we have them rapidly repeat the cycle."

Immediately after emerging from the training, Mr. Wang and Mr. Barber began negotiating the licensing of the training in China, the details of which are not released.

Leading Concepts, Inc. runs an immersion team-building and leadership development program empirically proven to change the behaviors of its participants. Since 1993, Leading Concepts has offered world-class development courses including the Ranger TLC Experience (immersion), and the Compass Course, along with Seminars and coaching. The immersion training compresses the on-the-job learning cycle from months and years down to only four days. At the same time diverse individuals become cohesive, bonded and effective teams.
