Hot New Teen Drama "Palmetto Pointe" Takes on Hard Hitting Issues Facing Post-High School Teens in This Sundays Premiere

Series Premiere, this Sunday, August 28th, introduces viewers to six friends and their story of friendship, home, dreams, love and the tough real life issues facing young adults today.

Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) August 24, 2005 -- "Palmetto Pointe," one of the most talked about teen drama series to hit primetime television this season, is more than a great looking cast of exceptional young actors from the likes of "One Tree Hill," "Dawson's Creek," and "Beverly Hills 90210." This brand new series is not afraid to tackle even the most serious issues facing young adults today, including alcoholism, child abuse, and date rape. The new hour-long drama has its series premiere on "i" Independent Television, Sunday, August 28th, at 8 p.m.

"It is the end of everything right and the beginning of everything real. That's what 'Palmetto Pointe' is all about," said lead actor and the show's producers Tim Woodward, Jr. "No subject is too taboo for us to take on in what we hard hitting, realistic view of life after high school. But with the show being set in the fictional beach town of Palmetto Pointe, South Carolina, we have plenty of opportunities for beautiful scenery, beach parties, friendship and love."

Sunday's pilot episode introduces us to Tristan Sutton (played by Tim Woodward, Jr.), who after the death of his parents leaves his hometown of Palmetto Pointe to play baseball, hoping to fulfill his dream of one day playing in the big leagues. Now, three months later, he has returned with a minor league team, playing in the town he hoped never to return to. On his way to pitching a no-hitter, Tristan is forced to deal with all that he left behind: family, friends, his first love and a mysterious new girl that catches his eye.

For six friends, the journey of life will be long and hard, but these young adults will be shaped by their memories. "It is the end of everything right and the beginning of everything real."

The exceptional cast of "Palmetto Pointe" is drawn from deep well of talent. Two of the show's lead actors are also the show's producers:

Tim Woodward, Jr., and Brent Lovell. Woodward and Lovell's creative partnership has even given them the nickname of the "Matt Damon and Ben Affleck of the Carolinas."

According to Lovell, his character of Logan Jones "will be one that magnetizes every audience member, simply because of his charismatic and warm-hearted aura," he said. "I am really looking forward to having the audience see what Logan goes through pertaining to his home life. Child abuse is an issue that is rarely tackled on national television, however, it is something that influences nearly two million children in the U.S. annually."

Amanda Baker, previously seen on WBs "One Tree Hill" plays the sporty and ambitious Callah OConnell. She is fresh off a role on an ABC Family movie titled "Same As It Never Was" that will have the up-and-coming actress playing the best friend of Lacey Chabert ("Party of Five," "Mean Girls"). Baker has also appeared on "Xena, Warrior Princess," "Two and a Half Men" and the CBS film "The Dead Will Tell" starring Anne Heche.

Sarah Edwards plays the headstrong Millison Avery. Edwards is known to millions of fans worldwide as Theresa on "One Tree Hill." Born and raised in North Carolina, she attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and is thrilled to be back in her home part of the country, this time South Carolina, as part of the "Palmetto Pointe" cast.

Madison Weidberg, a South Carolina native, is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. She has appeared in the Fox television programs "The OC" and "House." Weidberg plays the ritzy and impudent Lacy Timberlane.

Gabrielle Carteris, who starred for five years in the role of Andrea in the hit series "Beverly Hills 90210," plunges into "Palmetto Pointe" playing the loving, hardworking mother and loyal supportive wife in the drama.
