Marietta, GA (PRWEB) August 24, 2005
Since debuting in July 2005, sales of "Las Cruces," a novel written by Marietta, Georgia, author J. T. Fisher, have been climbing sharply.
Mr. Fisher is one of numerous acclaimed and successful southern writers to arise from the ranks of the esteemed Georgia Writers Association., and Las Cruces was released by Publish America, the worlds top publisher of works by promising new authors.
Las Cruces is a fast paced and action packed story based on the real, modern day underworld of drugs and drug money, money laundering, national economics, and global politics.
The story moves from staggeringly beautiful Southern California of decades past, to sunny Florida, where planes buzz the tropical skies making illicit sojourns to bring drugs into a nation relentlessly hungry for them, all in exchange for endless amounts of money.
Meanwhile, in New York City, power brokers work to wash the cash, then employ it to steer global business, national economics, and international politics.
In his first novel, Mr. Fisher, a member of the esteemed Georgia Writers Association, acquaints us with Jake Reyes and his friend since childhood, Vince Perez, both of whom are increasingly directed by life's inertia down different paths toward failure and success, respectively. Jake heaps problem upon problem, ostensibly for good reasons, but rarely for good results, until he's entangled in a web of dangerous people on both sides of the law.
In the end, with enemies closing in and time running out, Jake faces a dangerous Âcrossing that could keep him alive and restore value to his life. He has a plan, but his plans have always proven to be sources of problems rather than sources of solutions, so he doesn't know if he can fully trust himself.
Mr. Fisher plans a series of book signings in the Atlanta, Georgia area, and has committed proceeds from his first novel to charity.
Mr. Fisher is 43 years old, and serves as board chair for the Georgia March of Dimes.
"Las Cruces" is available at Amazon, Barnes & Nobel.com, and PublishAmerica.com.
