Starting in Santa Fe, the oldest capital city in the United States, this multi-sport adventure hikes through mesas, canyons, and alpine meadows. An exploration of the Frijoles Canyon yields evidence of houses and a community village established by the extinct Anasazi Indians over eight centuries ago. Evenings are spent at cozy, adobe inns, with authentic native cuisine served at every meal. Mountain bikes appear when the tour arrives in the Taos area to take on the Rio Chiquito Trail. Once at the Rio Grande River, it is on to the Pilar racecourse, with its Class III rapids.
